Tofu for babies
Why tofu is great for babies
Plant protein, calcium and iron. Soy is a common allergen — introduce on purpose.
How to serve at 6–8 months
Thick strips of firm tofu (roll in crushed cereal or hemp seeds for grip), or mashed silken tofu on a spoon.
How to serve at 9–11 months
Cubes of firm tofu, plain or lightly pan-seared.
How to serve at 12+ months
Cubes, strips, scrambled tofu, or in soups.
Allergen note
Tofu counts as a soy exposure — one of the 9 common allergens. Current pediatric guidance favors introducing allergens early (around 6 months), one at a time, and keeping them in the diet regularly once tolerated.
