Beef for babies
△ Moderate choking risk
💪 Iron-rich
Safety first: Chunks of steak are a hazard. Serve as a large piece to suck/gnaw, or ground and soft.
Why beef is great for babies
One of the best iron sources for babies — heme iron absorbs far better than plant iron.
How to serve at 6–8 months
A large strip of soft-cooked steak to hold and suck the juices (baby gnaws, swallows little), or well-cooked ground beef mixed into mash. Slow-cooked shredded beef is ideal.
How to serve at 9–11 months
Ground beef, soft meatballs, or finely shredded slow-cooked beef.
How to serve at 12+ months
Small tender pieces, meatballs, bolognese, or shredded beef tacos.
