Strawberry for babies
△ Moderate choking risk
Safety first: Small round berries can block airways. Serve large berries whole only when soft and bigger than baby's mouth, otherwise slice or quarter.
Why strawberry is great for babies
Excellent vitamin C, which boosts iron absorption when served with iron-rich foods.
How to serve at 6–8 months
Offer large, very ripe berries whole (bigger than a golf ball) for gnawing, or mash smaller ones into yogurt or oatmeal.
How to serve at 9–11 months
Quarter or slice berries lengthwise for self-feeding with pincer grasp.
How to serve at 12+ months
Halved or quartered depending on size. Whole small berries remain a hazard until around age 4.
