Cucumber for babies

Vegetables · suitable from 6 months

△ Moderate choking risk
Safety first: Firm raw chunks and coins are risky. Use large spears for gnawing or thin ribbons.

Why cucumber is great for babies

Mostly water — hydrating and soothing for teething gums (try it cold).

How to serve at 6–8 months

A thick, long spear with skin on for grip (baby gnaws, doesn't really eat much) — stay close. Cold cucumber soothes gums.

How to serve at 9–11 months

Thin ribbons (use a peeler) or small thin slices.

How to serve at 12+ months

Thin slices or quartered spears. Avoid thick coins until chewing is reliable.
